The CargoCatch Pickup Truck Bed Organizer started in our garage back in 2001 in San Diego. 21 years later, we’re still selling them, but now, they’re made overseas and have been for over 15 years. It’s a great product, not quite as heavy duty as those we made here in the good old USA back in the day, but that may change, here’s why.
Now, the retail price of the CargoCatch pickup truck bed organizer is $169.00 including shipping. It sells primarily on our site and Amazon, where in the past it was for sale on about 40 different websites over the years, on small mom & pop drop ship sites, via jobbers & distributors, etc…marketing trends have changed on the internet significantly over the years and this has been the best way for us to go with this particular product.
Now, the material costs and freight costs/landed shipping for the The Cargocatch Pickup Truck Bed Organizer in the USA have tripled, and due to the retail price going up so high, sales numbers have dropped but our margins have remained solid.
We don’t know for sure yet, but we predict that we could very well be at the end of an era with this product that we’ve been selling successfully for 21 years. And if we do lose the overseas manufacturing, we’ll start making them here again in the good old USA, but we expect the price will at that time probably be around $199.00 each given the increased quality and respective manufacturing costs here at home. We’ll see what happens and how it all pans out at the bottom of the book.
The CargoCatch pickup truck bed organizer was originally designed and made here in the USA and in Mexico. As a small manufacturer, we were literally forced to go overseas. It was just too expensive. But now, it’s getting so expensive overseas, it’s almost worth it to increase the quality as we had before, buy a few more and drop the price to almost where it is now out of China.
