Made in USA Cargo Nets Dominating the Market as China Suffers
Made in USA cargo nets are dominating the auto aftermarket as China suffers huge contract losses. It’s not a joke. We are watching the USA come back with a vengeance. China is screwed. So many countries are hitting China hard, we’re just watching this play out right in front of our eyes.
We wrote an article a bit ago back in March of this year about cargo net sales tanking after the Coronavirus started to seriously impact our country and businesses were shutting down for the pandemic that was looming. Now, it’s been a good 6 months, and the USA is coming back with a vengeance. Orders are pouring in for Made in USA cargo nets like our Patriot Net or the Hornet. These nets are handmade in the USA, and they’ll out live you in most cases.

Sure, we’ll sell our Chinese inventory, per contract, and that will take some time, but you better believe we are getting quotes elsewhere and already producing. Made in El Salvador. Made in Mexico. Made in Taiwan. Made in Vietnam. Made in the USA. Emails from China for manufacturing have skyrocketed, but we aren’t replying, at all, it’s all about Made in the USA now, or elsewhere, not China.

We had a part# 95001 Highland Cargo Net made in China for a couple of clients, one big one. They were buying about 800 of these nets per year. In 2020, thanks to the Wuhan bat bug, sales went down on that particular van shelf cargo net to 300/year, and now the product has had such poor performance (made in china no less) that the manufacturer Highland has discontinued the product and a company called Reese has taken it over, and at this time, it’s basically only available via special order with a 4 week lead time.

So, what did we do? We called production in Arizona, asked them to quote us on these Made in USA cargo nets for our customer who doesn’t want to pay for Chinese stuff anymore for many reasons including new tariffs, and they can source any hardware needed. The price is coming out less Made in USA. Where we’re being charged about $19.50 per net, we’re selling it for about $25, which is $10 cheaper than the same net made in China.
